Karen Abbs

Karen has had the privilege of working internationally for almost 20 years in the Middle East, Central and Eastern Africa, and South East Asia for various humanitarian and development organizations.
Karen brings to her work a passion for understanding the cultural contexts of wellbeing as well as the unique needs of individuals and the holistic system that they are a part of. Currently, she is co-creating staff care frameworks for international organizations with the goal of developing systems that truly support organizational, team, and individual wellbeing. Karen holds a Master of Expressive Arts Therapy and Psychology and a Bachelor of Anthropology. Her clinical expertise includes trauma, gender-based violence, stress and resilience, and critical incident response. Globally, she has developed both mental health and psychosocial programs, as well as staff wellbeing frameworks.
